One Page, One Mind

26 Aug

I like how Facebook gets smart, then stupid and then becomes smart again. While exploring the settings of my various Facebook pages for Anime SG and OkamiCon Nevada, I came across something that was not there before; the ability to change the username of one of your pages ONCE. This magical ability was not granted to us before. However, this gave me the perfect opportunity to fix an issue that had been bothering me for a little while…

Back when I created the first OkamiCon Page (OkamiCon Nevada) the username/Facebook URL ‘OkamiCon’ was taken by another short lived group who had sense changed their name and abandoned the page after they realized that there was already an OkamiCon present. As such, I grabbed up the username OkamiConNV. I had no notions of changing Anime SG to OkamiCon Utah at the time so it was fine.

However, now that we have OkamiCon Utah on the way, as well as the possibility of having an OkamiCon Arizona in the distant future, I was faced with a predicament; I did not want to have to manage all these different face book pages for all of these events but I could not all send them to OkamiConNV. Then I discovered the ability to CHANGE the Username of the ever growing OkamiCon Nevada page. Now I have the ability to consolidate everything all into one!

So now, the Facebook page that you have known the past few months as OkamiCon Nevada has been renamed back to plain ol’ OkamiCon and the URL has changed to OkamiConConventions. All of those who have already gone ahead and liked our OkamiCon Utah page, please go ahead and like the new standard OkamiCon Facebook Page.

Thanks everyone for being patient while we fix things around and get them settled! Remember to come to next month’s event Anime St. George at the Best Western Abbey Inn on September 29th, 2012 in St. George Utah! The dates for OkamiCon Nevada 2013 will be announced then!

Masquerade and TCG Tournament Registration Open!

17 Jan

I meant to make this update yesterday, but due to be being under the weather, I am making it today.

~Moonlight Masquerade~
Online Registration for the OkamiCon 2012 Moonlight Masquerade are now online and fully functional. I have found in the past that we get more participants in our masquerade and cosplay contest if we accept online submissions before hand instead of only allowing submissions at the convention itself. Last year, due to a little experiment called Anime Bonanza, I had suspended all online Masquerade Signups because it would have simply been overwhelming with both Bonanza and Anime SG in so close proximity to each other. However, because that is not the case with OkamiCon, you may now sign up early and plan out your costumes and skits months in advance. 🙂 Submissions will be closed shortly before the convention or until we reach the maximum limit of participants (which is currently at 25).

You can find a complete set of rules for the Moonlight Masque as well as the entry form under Programming -> Masquerade here on the blog or at the Masquerade page on OkamiCon.com.

~Yu-gi-oh! TCG Tournament~
Along with Moonlight Masque online signups, the entry form for our Yu-gi-oh! TCG Tournament is also online. There is also no set time for when submissions will close on account we want to encourage as many participants as possible.  I know there are lots of duelists out there who still play the game but simply cannot find anyone to play with, or at least that is the problem that I am having. There will be a table set up in the hall for ‘Free Play’ but only the tournament will feature prizes (that’s right, I said prizes, as in free stuff!) for the winners and eternal bragging rights.

So what are you waiting for?!  Grab your decks and head on over to our TCG Tournament page and sign up! You can also do this from our website on the Tabletop Games page.

Dealer Registration Open!

24 Oct

Hey Everyone!

Thank you for your patients in the delay it has taken me to get Dealer Registration for OkamiCon 2012 is finally open and online. You can now register and pay for your Dealer or Artist booth either from OkamiCon.com or through the Okami Promotions.

The plan is to have Pre-Registration open by November 1st and I will really try to make that deadline one way or another dispite my computer still having it’s emotional issues and the very high chance that it will be in the shop. Either way the show must go on.
